These terms

By using hardyindex.com you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. They are governed by the law of England and Wales.

The Hardy Index is published by Hardy, an independent research publication.

What the Hardy Index is, and what it is not

The Hardy Index scores how prepared each rated blockchain is for the quantum-computing threat, against a rubric published in full before the scores. It measures that one thing.

• It is not investment advice, and it is not a personal recommendation, a financial promotion or an inducement to buy, sell or hold anything. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and we do not provide regulated advice.
• It is not a security audit. A high score is not a statement that a chain is secure, and a low score is not a prediction that it will fail.
• It is not a credit rating and we are not a registered credit rating agency.
• It is not legal, tax or professional advice. If a decision matters, take advice from someone qualified to give it and regulated to be accountable for it.

Cryptoassets are volatile and largely unregulated in the UK. You can lose all of the money you put into them. Nothing here should be read as encouragement to do so.

Accuracy, and how to challenge it

Every dimension score carries a note and a link to a primary source, and every score is dated, because the facts underneath move. We take care over them, but we do not warrant that the site is accurate, complete or current, and a score reflects the evidence we could verify on the date it carries.

If you think a score is wrong, send the primary source that contradicts it to index@hardyindex.com. Corrections are published in the changelog with a reason and a source, including corrections to our own errors. That process is the remedy this publication offers, and it is offered to everyone equally.

Using our content

The index is published to be quoted, so the terms are deliberately generous.

• The dataset is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. That covers the Hardy Scores, the tiers, the dimension scores and the weights. Use them commercially if you like, including in a model or a product, provided you attribute them.
• Attribute like this: The Hardy Index, hardyindex.com, as of the date you took the figure. The date matters, because scores change and a stale figure attributed to us misrepresents us.
• The written work is ours. The guides, the profile prose, the methodology text, the design and the name The Hardy Index remain our copyright and our marks. Quote them with attribution and a link, as you would any publication. Do not republish them wholesale or present them as your own.
• Automated access is welcome. Every page has a Markdown mirror at the same path with a .md extension, and the site publishes an llms.txt. Read the machine-readable surface rather than scraping the HTML, keep your request rate reasonable, and do not attempt to disrupt the service.
• The badges are for chains we rate. If your chain appears in the index, you may display its badge, provided it is current, links to the profile it came from, and is not altered to change what it says.

Links and commercial content

Some guides carry affiliate links, which are labelled where they appear and marked in the markup, and which may earn us a commission. They never affect a rating, and they never appear on the index, the methodology, a chain profile or the changelog. The whole arrangement is set out on the disclosure page.

Links to other sites are given because they are useful, usually as the source for a claim. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, their products or their privacy practices.

Availability and changes

The site is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be available, uninterrupted or free of error. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and we may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when it is published, with the date at the top of this page updated to match.

Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions, and we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of an investment, loss of a cryptoasset, loss of data, business interruption or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or from reliance on anything published here.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

If you use this site in the course of a business, you agree that we have no liability to you for any business loss, however it arises.

Law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this site, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
