## Tier 1: Native

Post-quantum secure at mainnet today, with quantum-resistant signatures built in from genesis.

The only chain in the index where a post-quantum signature is mandatory for every account on mainnet, and has been since 2018.

### [Abelian (ABEL)](https://hardyindex.com/chains/abelian)

Hardy Score 84.5 of 100. Rank 2 of 23.

A lattice-based privacy chain that has run post-quantum signatures and key encapsulation on mainnet since 2022, built on primitives inspired by CRYSTALS-Dilithium and Kyber.

## Tier 2: Shipping

Post-quantum signature features are live on mainnet and a migration for existing holders is underway.

An audited SPHINCS+ lock script is deployed on CKB mainnet, so users can hold funds under a NIST-standardised post-quantum signature today without a hard fork.

Falcon-signed State Proofs have secured Algorand's history since 2022 and Falcon-signed transactions have run on mainnet since November 2025, with broad resilience targeted for end-2027.

A quantum-resistant Winternitz vault has run on Solana mainnet for over two years, but protocol-level migration to Falcon is explicitly conditional and carries no published dates.

Committed in August 2026 to two finalised NIST schemes, with a migration path that lets existing accounts move to quantum-safe keys without changing their addresses.

A published Quantum Preparedness Plan whose first stage adds ML-DSA verification to Soroban as native host functions, letting contract accounts authenticate with quantum-safe keys.

Privacy is not quantum safety: Zcash spends are authorised by elliptic-curve signatures, though ZIP 2005 adds a quantum recovery path for shielded notes ahead of a full transition.

Proposed SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s for transaction signatures as an opt-in scheme, accepting signatures 82 times larger than Ed25519 in exchange for minimal new security assumptions.

The Web3 Foundation published a post-quantum roadmap covering Polkadot and JAM, naming Dilithium for consensus signatures and Falcon for accounts.

A dedicated Ethereum Foundation post-quantum team formed in January 2026, with hash-based validator signatures in weekly devnets and core infrastructure targeted for around 2029.

Hardy Score 37.5 of 100. Rank 14 of 23.

Cardano Vision 2026 makes post-quantum security one of three strategic pillars, with named research deliverables running from primitive assessment to a published migration SIP.

## Tier 4: Debating

The threat is acknowledged and proposals exist, but there is no consensus and no published timeline.

Hardy Score 22.5 of 100. Rank 15 of 23.

Tested ML-DSA-44 signatures on its own network and published the cost honestly: throughput fell around 40 per cent and blocks grew nearly eighteenfold.

### [IOTA (IOTA)](https://hardyindex.com/chains/iota)

Hardy Score 21.0 of 100. Rank 16 of 23.

Widely described as quantum-resistant on the strength of a scheme it removed in 2021; IOTA's layer 1 has signed with Ed25519 since Chrysalis and post-quantum support exists only in IOTA Identity.

Signs with ECDSA on secp256k1 and has announced an intention to deploy NIST post-quantum signatures on mainnet, but we could not confirm dated milestones from a primary source.

Hardy Score 17.0 of 100. Rank 18 of 23.

Two post-quantum BIPs reached Draft status in February 2026, but neither introduces a post-quantum signature, no activation path is agreed, and roughly a third of supply sits in addresses with exposed public keys.

## Tier 5: Exposed

The signatures securing funds on mainnet today are quantum-vulnerable, and no public post-quantum plan, proposal or research programme could be found.

Signs with Ed25519 and has no published post-quantum roadmap, though its wallet-as-smart-contract model means a new signature scheme could be adopted without changing the protocol.

A Bitcoin-derived chain using ECDSA on secp256k1 with no published post-quantum roadmap, though its MWEB soft fork proves it can enact consensus changes Bitcoin has not managed.
